When Lucid Motors announced the new performance model of the Grand Touring Lucid Air, there was a lot of discussion about it in the Lucid Motors Owners forum. One thing most people believe is that the hardware on the performance model and the regular model are the same. To be honest, I am not sure if this is true but that is the speculation.
The thoughts are, that it is the software that can turn on more horsepower and more 0-60mph speed and not the hardware.
If that is the case, why not let Lucid Air owners unlock more horsepower via the app or the car’s dash for a fee per hour. Like, charge $100 to unlock more speed for the next 60 minutes or something like that? The car can then accept the payment, and the software can unlock the speed.
Most people, most of the time, do not need the 1,050 horsepower, also the 819 horsepower is probably too much also. In fact, some people want to limit the speed when their kids are taking the car out for a drive. So why not some settings for that – it would make for a really neat trick.
